Places to visit in Dharamshala

Located at a distance of 18 km from Kangra city, Dharamshala is the winter capital city of Himachal Pradesh. Famous for adventure sports there are plenty of places to visit in Dharamshala. Dharamshala is surrounded by peaks of Dhauladhar mountains, lush pine, and deodar forests, and snow-covered landscape. Along with a great number of restaurants, cafes, and shops, the town is brimming with cultural and architectural attractions. 

1. Mcleod Ganj

McLeod Ganj is a suburb of Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is known as "Little Lhasa" or "Dhasa" because of its large population of Tibetans. The Tibetan government-in-exile is headquartered in McLeod Ganj

Nestled in the Kangra district and the suburbs of the town of Dharamshala, Mcleodganj is famous for being a spiritual getaway and pilgrimage for the Buddhists, the reason being that it is home to the Dalai Lama, who came here in the year 1960 after his exile from Tibet. 2. Dal Lake

Dal Lake is a small lake near the village of Tota Rani in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. The lake is located at an altitude of 1,775 meters above sea level. Boating is one of the popular activities in Dal Lake, you can explore different views of the hills by boating. There is also a Kali temple that adds to the beauty and peacefulness of the lake.

3. Bhagsu Falls

4. Triund

Triund is a small hill station in the Kangra district in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. Triund is a part of Dharamkot. Triund is at the foot of the Dhauladhar ranges and is at a height of 2,828 m.

Triund is about 13.5 kilometres away from Dharamshala situated at an altitude of  2,828 meters above sea level. Triund hill is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Dharamshala. Triund hill is considered ideal for trekking because it is surrounded by the Dhauladhar ranges on one side and rolling valleys on the other which gives breathtaking and majestic views.

5. Kangra Valley

Kangra Valley is situated in the Western Himalayas. Administratively, it predominantly lies in the state of Himachal Pradesh in India. It is a popular tourist destination, with the peak season around March and April. The Kangri dialect is spoken there.

Kangra valley is considered ideal for walks, bird watching, trekking, mountaineering and rock climbing. The famous attraction of the valley is the Masrur temple and is situated in the western Himalayas. It is the best place to visit in Dharamshala.

6. Kangra Fort

The Kangra Fort is located 20 kilometers from the town of Dharamsala on the outskirts of the town of Kangra, India.

Kangra Fort was built in the 4th century BC by the Katoch Empire. It is one of the oldest forts in all of India and one of the popular tourist places in Dharamshala. 7. Trekking
